A civil engineer by training, with a day-job building motorways, bridges, railways and other infrastructure around the world, I've always had a passion for the creative side of building things; taking pleasure from playing my own small part in the design and creation of infrastructure where beauty can exist in terms of both form and function.   At home, I always used to be happiest when busily engaged in some form of DIY, but as I have become older this interest has grown and developed into the creation of unique, handmade, items from all types of materials.  As an entirely self-taught hobby woodworker with a passion for making useful and (hopefully) attractive objects, I have made mistakes along the way - lots of them - and I know I will make many more, but wood is such a forgiving medium that I've never yet had to give up on challenge which I have set myself!  I use only the finest, hand-picked materials and finishes in every project I make, and do everything to use local sources as much as possible.
